#1 Wet Brush
This little gem is at the top of my list for a reason. The Wet Brush has super bendy bristles that help detangle your hair in the shower in half the time, leaving you knot-free, and with 45% less damage. At a super affordable price point of $8, there's no reason not to have one.
#2 Heeta Scalp Care Brush
Got scalp gunk? This little silicone scrubber doesn't play ya'll! It removes all that gunk that builds-up on the scalp in-between washes, and delivers a mighty fine scalp massage at the same time. Total win!
#3 Hairy Grabster
Let me ask you a serious question...have you every slapped loose hair on the shower wall while you were detangling? SMH-SAVAGERY! These little puppies suction to the shower wall and have little bristles to wipe those pesky loose hairs on, instead of the shower wall. After showering, simply grab the hair clump and trash it.
#4 Continuous Spray Bottle
The #1 phrase we use at the salon is, "the wetter the better". Get your heads out of the gutter...we're talking about styling curly hair. For most people, we suggest applying styling products to soaking wet hair. For those of you that prefer to style outside the shower, this handy little bottle sprays a fine mist of water for several seconds, making it easier and quicker to wet the hair. It's also our weapon of choice for a refresh spray and misting our salon plant friends.🌷
#5 The Denman Brush
The Denman Brush is the styling counterpart to the Wet Brush and is an absolute curly girl cult fave. It has 7 rows of nylon bristles and rounded edges that glide through the hair. Section-by-section, apply your favorite styler to soaking wet hair (the wetter the better remember?), and glide the Denman through the ends in a downward and inward motion. If you are looking for serious curl definition, this brush is for you!
#6 Metal Double Prong Curl Clips
You may have seen my girl Alaina rolling around the salon clipped up. These clips are an excellent and quick way to add volume to your roots on both wash and refresh days. Check out the highlight reel on my IG page @hair.by jenniwoz to see basic clipping sets.
I know, I know, Deva Curl has had quite a bit of negative press recently, but I still rank their microfiber towel numbero uno. The smooth microfiber texture helps absorb water without roughing up your curls. Plus, it's a whopping 39" x 20" and includes a loop to hang dry.
#8 Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
Oh, how I love thee? Let me count the ways. This is yet another cult favorite among the curlies. This bad boy will set you back a cool $399, but trust me when I tell you that it's worth every penny. It's super quiet and small. The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer is designed with intelligent heat control to help protect your hair from heat damage and to decrease frizz and flyaways by up to 61%. The diffuser attachment is absolute perfection.
#9 Buff Gaiter
Also known as a multifunctional neckwear or a neck gaiter. These cylinder shaped pieces of fabric were originally designed for athletes to keep their necks warm, or to protect them from the sun. If you've had a hard time keeping bonnets on your head, the Buff may be your answer. For voluminous day 2, simply put the Buff over your head and around your neck. Flip your head over and pull one end of the buff up and over your curls. Tuck in the loose ends and hit the hay. To avoid volume on day 2, follow the same steps but do not flip head over before pulling the buff over your hair. Sweet Dreams!
#10 Satin Pillow Case
For those of you that want to skip the night time hair routines, use a satin pillow case. It is a quicker option to help preserve your curls and help minimize day 2 frizz. They also help prevent fine line and wrinkles...TOTAL BONUS!
Is a reusable, flaxseed filled microwavable deep conditioning cap. Slather on your favorite deep conditioner from mid-lengths to ends and clip up. Heat Hothead cap for 30-45 seconds in the microwave, and place it over a plastic shower cap for 20-45 mins. #selfcare.
#12 Fogless Shower Mirror
This is one of Patricia Perry's faves! These mirrors suction cup to the shower wall, and magically don't fog up. I don't think I need to explain this one, guys, but seeing what you're doing makes it that much easier!
To quote all grandfathers around the world, you need the right tools for the right job! Before I go, I hope you all enjoy the holiday season and have the happiest of New Years!
